Heading out with a baby is rarely “just a short trip.” Lifts, stairs, bags, and a wriggly little person add up—strollers are wonderful, but they are not always the easiest tool in every Hong Kong corridor. Holding baby for too long is what makes shoulders and lower backs complain. Before you buy: try a carrier on

How to use: seven practical steps
1) Fit the empty carrier first
Put the carrier on without baby. Snug the waistbelt around waist/hips (not digging into the soft belly). Use strap markers to note “my length” and “partner’s length.”
2) Secure the waistbelt
Buckle fully (including any dual-action lock per the design). Keep lumbar padding against your lower back. Comfort is personal—stop and retune rather than “push through” pain.
3) Match shoulder markers / micro-adjust
The PDP calls out marked straps and one-hand adjustment. Aim for even shoulder load and no neck cut-in. Symmetry helps.
4) Seat baby; check head/neck + M-position
Head/neck: Until baby shows strong, consistent head control, support matters. Ergobaby’s FAQ describes aiming the panel’s top edge near mid-ear height, with newborn folding/buttoning guidance for the head support, and face-out rules (support folded out/down; chin clearing the panel).
M-seat: Knees higher than bottom, thighs supported. Check in a mirror that baby is not sliding down or chin-tucking into the chest.

6) Use the six pockets
Example packing (flexible, not a rule):
Detachable front pouch — Octopus card, phone, keys
Large rear zip — nappy + small wipe pack
Stretch side pockets — soother cloth, small bottle cap
Two small zips — tiny items you cannot afford to drop
Avoid overstuffing that blocks buckles or airflow.
7) Wash & care
Official care: machine washable; fasten buckles, wash in a pillowcase/laundry bag with mild detergent (no bleach/harsh brighteners), cold ~30°C, air dry. Confirm on the manual for your unit.

Practice at home — empty fit → baby in → two loops around the living room before the MTR.
Keep the first trip simple — do not debut face-out or back carry in a crowded mall.
Reflective strips ≠ armour — they help visibility; you still pause at crossings.
Hot days — mesh helps, but check baby’s neck/back for sweat; rest and hydrate (you too).
Two-caregiver households — mark both strap settings so handovers are quick.
Stroller vs carrier is not always either/or: carriers shine for short mall hops and station transfers; strollers still win when you need flat rest space or haul a lot of shopping.
